About us
FICAN North is responsible for the operations of the Finnish Cancer Center (FICAN) in the region of Northern Finland. FICAN North is owned by The Wellbeing Services County of North Ostrobothnia (Pohde), The University of Oulu, The Wellbeing Services County of Lapland, The Wellbeing Services County of Central Ostrobothnia (Soite) and The Wellbeing Services County of Kainuu.
FICAN North was founded in 2018, and it operates in Oulu under Pohde. The administration of FICAN North consists of the director, a management board, as well a clinical and a scientific sub-working group.
The main tasks of FICAN North are to coordinate and develop the following within the region of Northern Finland:
- cancer diagnostics and treatment
- cancer research
- training of professionals taking part in cancer treatment and research
- cancer prevention and rehabilitation
