FICAN South promotes the integration of research more closely into treatment.

Cancer research serves as the foundation for all diagnostic and therapeutic innovations in cancer treatment. The mission of FICAN South is to broadly advance cancer research, research-based diagnostics, and cancer treatment, as well as to promote the integration of research more closely into treatment.

A particular development focus at FICAN South is improving collaboration between research and clinical professionals. To foster collaboration, FICAN South supports translational research projects and cancer-focused symposia in the HUS area.

Cancer Researchers and Research Projects

Promoting cancer research and targeting areas crucial for treatment is a central goal of the HUS Comprehensive Cancer Center. This is particularly supported by enhancing collaboration between clinical care and translational researchers.

At the University of Helsinki, cancer research is conducted within the Research Programs Unit of the Faculty of Medicine. The Department of Oncology at the University of Helsinki is the largest teaching and research unit for cancer diseases in Finland.
