Screening programs in Finland
The wellbeing service counties are responsible for organizing screening in accordance with the national screening program. The national screening program includes screenings for breast cancer, cervical cancer, and starting from 2022, colorectal cancer. Participation in screening is free of charge and voluntary.
Breast cancer screening
- Target Group: Women aged 50–69
- Screening Interval: 20–26 months

Cervical cancer screening
- Target Group: Women aged 30–65 (in some municipalities also those aged 25)
- Screening Interval: Five years

Colorectal cancer screening
- Target Group: In 2022, all women and men aged 60, 62, 64, 66, and 68. From 2031 onwards: ages 56–74

The national cancer registry and the national cancer screening steering group supports the wellbeing service coutnies in implementing the screening programs by providing information on the screening process, as well as guidelines and materials for conducting the screenings.
