Rare cancers -project

The rare cancers and cancer predisposition syndromes -project is a national initiative launched in 2022 and coordinated by the FICAN South and FICAN Mid. The project consists of three components: Treatment pathways and patient experiences, medical treatment and availability of medications, and hereditary cancer predisposition syndromes (e.g., BRCA, LS, Peutz-Jeghers). The project is being advanced through national cooperation involving patients, clinical professionals from cancer centers, geneticists, and cancer organizations.

Expected outcomes of the project
• National treatment guideline for rare cancer treatment pathways
• National recommendation for hereditary cancer predisposition syndromes
• Implementation of ERN (European Reference Networks) operations into practice
