National Cancer Strategy

FICAN has received a mandate from the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health (STM) to prepare a National Cancer Strategy. The Cancer Strategy covers the entire cancer pathway, including cancer prevention, screening, diagnostics, treatment, patient support, palliative and hospice care, as well as research. The Cancer Strategy outlines the focus areas of development for each sector, including recommendations for national-level implementation.

The progress of the cancer strategy work is overseen by a steering group with representatives from the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health (STM), the Finnish Cancer Center FICAN, the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) and the Cancer Society of Finland. The cancer strategy is being developed in close cooperation with all national stakeholders. The work is expected to be completed by May 2025.
