Quality and monitoring

The development of the quality and effectiveness of cancer treatment largely depends on the evaluation and monitoring of care and service pathways. The quality and effectiveness of cancer care are key factors in improving patient well-being and treatment outcomes. High-quality care means that patients receive the best possible treatment at the right time, based on the most up-to-date scientific evidence and international or national guidelines. Effectiveness, on the other hand, refers to how well the treatment can improve the patient’s quality of life and prognosis while reducing the burden cancer imposes on the individual and society.

The goal of the Finnish Cancer Center is to ensure that all the patients receive the best possible cancer treatment. This is advanced by developing shared quality standards as well as structures for the evaluation and monitoring of care and service pathways.

The Finnish Cancer Center strongly utilizes the international OECI accreditation program in its operations, with its high-level standards providing a common framework for the development of cancer care and research in Finland. Read more about the accreditation program here.
