Cancer quality registry project
The Cancer Registry, the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (THL), and the National Cancer Center (FICAN) have jointly initiated a feasibility study (research project) to establish a cancer quality registry. The primary objective of the research project is to investigate how the data from existing national registries can be used to assess the implementation of cancer treatment and treatment outcomes in Finland. The project will test specifically defined operational and quality indicators (e.g., access to treatment, treatment delivery, and treatment outcomes) on a selected, specifically defined patient group. The establishment of the quality registry will be piloted initially with lung cancer.

Quality registry project reports
The reports published in the feasibility study contain information about the implementation of cancer diagnostics and treatment. Additionally, the reports aim to evaluate the representativeness and quality of treatment data and assess the effectiveness of the delivered treatment.
Lung Cancer
The lung cancer report published in the feasibility study is a draft preparing for the actual lung cancer quality registry reporting. The report examines how lung cancer treatment is carried out in Finland and whether there are differences in treatment delivery across regions and age groups. The report also describes the current state of available data through national registries and its quality.
