Research projects
National research projects
Several significant national cancer research projects are ongoing in Finland, aiming to improve cancer diagnostics, treatment, and patients’ quality of life. All FICAN regional centers are strongly involved in these research projects.
The FINPROVE research project is coordinated by the HUS Cancer Center and is open to all university hospitals in Finland. The study investigates the potential for targeted drug treatments for patients with advanced cancer who have no other treatment options available. You can learn more about the project here: FINPROVE | HUS
The iCAN project is part of Finland’s flagship cancer research program and aims to advance personalized cancer treatment and develop new cancer therapies through artificial intelligence and data-driven methods. The iCAN project integrates clinical and basic research while extensively utilizing genomic data. You can learn more about the project here: iCAN
