Clinical Research and Clinical Drug Trials
Clinical Drug Trials offer various economic and clinical benefits, and supporting its conditions is a central part of the FICAN South´s activities. The studies are conducted and managed in the research units of the respective departments. The mission of FICAN South is to support the resourcing and opportunities for clinical research.
There are over 150 clinical drug trials ongoing at the HUS Comprehensive Cancer Center. A significant portion of these are sponsor-funded clinical cancer pharmaceutical studies. There are also several clinical trials in other departments and central hospitals within the Southern Finland Collaboative Area. The Finnish Medicines Agency (Fimea) has launched a website where open recruiting clinical drug trials are listed on the Fimea site “Drug Studies Seeking Participants.” The purpose of this is to facilitate patients’ opportunities to participate in clinical drug trials.
